As a Staff Engineer in Electronics – Embedded Firmware, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Kitchen and Bath products, including smart home connected devices. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving in-depth design and development, evaluating the technical feasibility of emerging concepts, and contributing valuable insights during Technical Design Reviews. This position offers the chance to bring creative ideas to life and make a lasting impact on product categories across the board.</font></span></p><p><font size="3" style="font-family: Arial;"><strong>Specific Responsibilities:</strong></font></p><ul><li><font size="3" style="font-family: Arial;">Responsible for the design, development, verification, and maintenance of firmware to enable new Kitchen and Bath products.</font></li><li><font size="3" style="font-family: Arial;">Work with cross-functional teams to develop system and firmware requirements for new products. Document these requirements appropriately.</font></li><li><font size="3" style="font-family: Arial;">Support the maintenance and updates for existing products throughout the product life cycle.</font></li><li><font size="3" style="font-family: Arial;">Develop and document system firmware architectures.</font></li><li><font size="3" style="font-family: Arial;">Write firmware for use in device control systems, user interfaces, data acquisition devices, sensor interfaces and communication modules.</font></li><li><font size="3" style="font-family: Arial;">Support the verification and release to production.</font></li><li><font size="3" style="font-family: Arial;">Use tools such as emulators, debuggers, oscilloscopes to debug and verify proper operation of system firmware.</font></li><li><font size="3" style="font-family: Arial;">Work in a team environment to develop firmware requirements, architecture, and structure.</font></li><li><span style="font-family: Arial;"><font size="3">Work on special projects as dictated by the needs of the department. These projects will be technical in nature.</font></span></li></ul></font></span></p> <p style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial;"><b><u><span size="5"><font size="3">Skills/Requirements</font></span></u></b></span></p> <p style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><span size="5" style="font-family: Arial;"><font size="3"><ul><li><span style="font-family: Arial;"><font size="3">A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited (or equivalent) institution is required.</font></span></li><li><span style="font-family: Arial;"><font size="3">6+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer, or Computer Science Engineering.</font></span></li><li><span style="font-family: Arial;"><font size="3">Expert level knowledge of the following programming languages: C, C++, Python.</font></span></li><li><span style="font-family: Arial;"><font size="3">Demonstrated experience in firmware design and documentation practices.</font></span></li><li><span style="font-family: Arial;"><font size="3">Demonstrated experience in writing firmware for applications incorporating RTOS.</font></span></li><li><span style="font-family: Arial;"><font size="3">Demonstrated understanding of object oriented programming.</font></span></li><li><span style="font-family: Arial;"><font size="3">Experience with wired and wireless communication protocols: RS485, BLE, WiFi, TCP/IP.</font></span></li><li><span style="font-family: Arial;"><font size="3">Good understanding of Hardware including schematics and microcontroller based controls.</font></span></li><li><span style="font-family: Arial;"><font size="3">Good organizational capability and high attention to detail.</font></span></li><li><span style="font-family: Arial;"><font size="3">Ability to work on multiple tasks in a timely fashion with minimal supervision.</font></span></li><li><span style="font-family: Arial;"><font size="3">Development of firmware in a professional, team-oriented environment.</font></span></li></ul><p><span style="font-family: Arial;"><font size="3">#LI-SC2<br>#LI-Onsite</font></span></p></font></span></p> <p style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><font face="Arial" size="2"><strong style=""><em style="">Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.</em></strong></font></p><p style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;"><font face="Arial" size="2"><em style="">We believe in supporting you from the moment you join us, which is why Kohler offers day 1 benefits. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
