It is also a Joint Commission-accredited, level 1a complexity teaching hospital, providing tertiary-level care.</p><p><strong>Perks and Benefits:</strong></p><p><strong>VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package:</strong> VHA Physician Total Rewards.</p><p><strong>EDRP Authorized:</strong> This position is eligible for an education debt reduction program (a student loan payment reimbursement program)</p><p><strong>Benefits and Compensation:</strong></p><ul><li><p><strong>Pay:</strong> $325,000 - $400,000/per year</p></li><li><p> Annual performance bonus, and regular salary increases.</p></li><li><p><strong>Paid Time Off:</strong> 50-55 days annually, including:</p><ul><li><p>26 days of annual leave</p></li><li><p>13 days of sick leave</p></li><li><p>11 paid Federal holidays</p></li><li><p>Up to 5 days paid absence for CME</p></li></ul></li><li><p><strong>Retirement:</strong> Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% contributions by VA.</p></li><li><p><strong>Insurance:</strong> Comprehensive federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long-term care insurance (many programs can be carried into retirement).</p></li><li><p><strong>Licensure:</strong> 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory.</p></li><li><p><strong>CME:</strong> Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification).</p></li><li><p><strong>Malpractice:</strong> Free liability protection with tail coverage provided.</p></li><li><p><strong>Contract:</strong> No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restrictions on moonlighting.</p></li></ul><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li><p>Expertise in General Orthopedic Surgery, including routine orthopedic trauma with a subspecialty focus on shoulder surgery.</p></li><li><p>Lead and improve service delivery initiatives within the facility.</p></li><li><p>Provide clinical care, assist residents and mid-level practitioners, and ensure comprehensive patient evaluations.</p></li><li><p>Coordinate with internal and external providers for cohesive patient care.</p></li><li><p>Foster a positive working environment and maintain strong professional relationships with staff, peers, and Veterans.</p></li><li><p>Engage in consultations and actively participate in hospital and departmental committees, educational programs, and the peer review process.</p></li><li><p>Participate in a collaborative call schedule with three other orthopedic surgeons.</p></li><li><p>Work alongside a supportive team of six skilled mid-level practitioners and an orthopedic resident.</p></li><li><p>Train orthopedic residents from our academic affiliate, the University of Arizona.</p></li></ul><ul><li><p><strong>Work Schedule:</strong> Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm</p></li></ul><p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p><p>* United States Citizenship</p><p>* Non-US Citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified US Citizens in accordance with VA Policy.</p><p>* Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine</p><p>* Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in all the US States</p><p>* Successful completion of Residency Training in the USA</p><p> </p><p>* <strong>Preferred Experience:</strong><br>General orthopedic experience is essential with a focus on shoulder surgeries including shoulder arthroscopies, total and reverse shoulder arthroplasties.</p><p>* Fellowship training in Shoulder surgery/ sports is strongly preferred and should be proficient in be able to operate on routine trauma cases such as hip fracture</p><p>* Board-certified or board-eligible orthopedic surgeon<br></p><p>This is your chance to make a lasting impact on the lives of our Veterans and achieve professional fulfillment.
