<p><strong>Overview</strong></p><p><strong>US Citizenship and Residency Completion Required to Apply<br /><br />This position is located at Martin Army Community Hospital, Fort Benning, GA.</strong></p><p><strong>Physician (Emergency Medicine) Full-Time</strong></p><p><strong>We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Emergency Medicine Physician to start work ASAP but ideally NLT spring/summer 2026. The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving and managing a wide variety of cases, often complicated by indistinct symptoms or overlapping conditions, across a patient population ranging from pediatric to geriatric. Benning, GA; and Phenix City, AL. Columbus (Georgia's second-largest city) is home to the 15-mile trail known as the Chattahoochee RiverWalk. The RiverWalk provides an excellent facility to bike, in-line skate, jog, or just take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the scenery. Columbus offers a variety of attractions such as the State Theatre of Georgia, the historic Springer Opera House; the RiverCenter, a performance site for the Columbus Symphony Orchestra as well as companies for national Broadway show tours, comedians and entertainers; the National Civil War Naval Museum at Port Columbus; the National Infantry Museum, which displays a large collection of military art and artifacts; the Columbus Museum, one of the largest state-of-the-art facilities in the Southeast; and the beautiful Historic District - circa 1850-1870. The stunning Florida gulf shores and Blue Ridge Mountains are only a few hours' drive.</p><h2>Responsibilities</h2><h3><strong><span data-markdown-start-index="901">Key Responsibilities</span></strong></h3><ul><li><strong><span data-markdown-start-index="930">Triage and Diagnosis:</span></strong><span data-markdown-start-index="953">Serves as a Medical Officer in the Emergency Room (ER), receiving patients with diverse and complex conditions. Exercises significant independent judgment to accurately diagnose and treat patients presenting with indistinct or overlapping symptoms.</span></li><li><strong><span data-markdown-start-index="1208">Critical Decision-Making:</span></strong><span data-markdown-start-index="1235">Makes immediate, critical decisions and initiates treatment for difficult emergency cases, including heart attacks, head injuries, lacerations, seizures, and other life-threatening conditions.</span></li><li><strong><span data-markdown-start-index="1434">Direct Patient Treatment:</span></strong><span data-markdown-start-index="1461">Treats the physical condition of the patient (e.g., administers intravenous fluids for heat exhaustion, prescribes medication) or recognizes and refers patients to a specialist for further diagnosis and treatment when necessary.</span></li><li><strong><span data-markdown-start-index="1696">Surgical Procedures:</span></strong><span data-markdown-start-index="1718">Performs minor surgery as required, such as incision and drainage (I&D) of abscesses, I&D of hemorrhoids, and suturing lacerations.</span></li><li><strong><span data-markdown-start-index="1856">Leadership and Supervision:</span></strong><span data-markdown-start-index="1885">Instructs and supervises other medical personnel in the care and treatment of patients, serving as a Senior Specialist and mentor within the department.</span></li><li><strong><span data-markdown-start-index="2044">Medication Management:</span></strong><span data-markdown-start-index="2068">Administers and prescribes appropriate medicine and treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.</span></li><li><strong><span data-markdown-start-index="2180">Record Keeping:</span></strong><span data-markdown-start-index="2197">Accurately records all relevant medical data and case history in the <strong>Composite Health Care System (CHCS)</strong>.</span></li><li><span data-markdown-start-index="2311"> Performs other duties as assigned.</span></li></ul><h2>Qualifications</h2><h3><strong><span data-markdown-start-index="2259">Qualifications</span></strong></h3><p><strong>US Citizenship required</strong></p><ul><li><strong><span data-markdown-start-index="2379">Education:</span></strong><span data-markdown-start-index="2391">Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from an accredited medical school.</span></li><li><strong><span data-markdown-start-index="2499">Residency:</span></strong><span data-markdown-start-index="2511">Completion of an accredited residency in emergency medicine.</span></li><li><strong><span data-markdown-start-index="2578">Experience:</span></strong><ul><li><span data-markdown-start-index="2599"> Proven experience Board Certified emergency medicine Physicians or residency trained with 4 years emergency room experience (<strong>Family Medicine and potentially internal medicine would be suitable as well if they meet the experience clause)</strong></span></li><li><span data-markdown-start-index="2679"> Postgraduate clinical experience in emergency medicine is required.</span></li></ul></li><li><strong><span data-markdown-start-index="2752">Licensure and Certification:</span></strong><ul><li><span data-markdown-start-index="2790"> Valid state medical license and current registration to practice.</span></li><li><span data-markdown-start-index="2863"> Board certification or eligibility by ABEM or AOBEM.</span></li><li><strong><span data-markdown-start-index="2925">Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is required.</span></strong></li><li><span data-markdown-start-index="2998"> ACLS, PALS, and ATLS certifications are highly desirable.</span></li></ul></li></ul>
