Job description
<strong>Description </strong><br>Summary:<br>Assists the professional nursing staff by performing duties in caring for hospitalized patients under the direct supervision of the professional nurse.<br>Responsibilities:<ul><li>Reviews information on the patient record. </li><li>Identifies and documents physiological needs of the patient after conference with the RN. </li><li>Discusses psychosocial needs of the patient with the RN. </li><li>Reviews and revises the plan of care of assigned patients. </li><li>Participates in patient care and planning with the RN. </li><li>Plans care to be given setting priorities and delivering in an organized manner. </li><li>Notifies RN of any change in patient status and response to treatments. </li><li>Demonstrates effective knowledge and accuracy in the administration of medications. </li><li>Performs various Point of Care testing procedures. </li><li>Documents the effectiveness of nursing care given. </li><li>Identifies areas of weakness and formulates objectives to improve self. </li><li>Reports deficiencies as observed to improve nursing care. </li><li>Initiates appropriate charges and utilizes supplies efficiently. </li><li>Maintains a cooperative relationship with medical staff that promotes patient well-being. </li><li>Responds willingly to requests for help from coworkers. </li><li>Arrives on duty promptly. </li><li>Adheres to mealtime and break schedules. </li><li>Participates in problem-solving activities. </li><li>Incorporates patient care to assure that patients receive scheduled treatments and tests. </li><li>Respects policies and procedures of department/unit. </li><li>Maintains harmonious working relations with other departments. </li><li>Documents growth-producing professional efforts. </li><li>Attains continuing education hours to maintain licensure. </li><li>Performs delegated nursing procedures after instruction and certification. </li><li>Maintains current CPR certification and informs Nurse Manager </li> </ul> Requirements:<br>Education:<br><ul><li>Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing. </li> </ul>Experience:<br><ul><li>Six months of hospital experience required. </li><li>Must be able to read, speak and write English fluently. </li> </ul>Certifications, Registrations, or Licenses:<br><ul><li>Current New Mexico LPN license required. </li><li>BLS Certification required or must be obtained within 2 weeks of hire date. All other required certifications must be obtained within 6 months of hire date. (See Required Department Certification List detailed on the last page of this document.) </li><li>Must be able to pass LPN skills competency checklist applicable to area. </li><li>LPN IV Therapy Certification preferred. </li> </ul> Work Schedule:<br>MULTIPLE SHIFTS AVAILABLE<br><b> Work Type: </b><br>Per Diem As Needed
