<p><strong>Medical Director, Hematology and Medical Oncology</strong></p><p>VHC Health - Arlington, Virginia<br>Full-Time | Main Hospital Campus</p><p>VHC Health is proud to announce that it is internalizing the cornerstone of its Oncology program and seeking an experienced, innovative, and collaborative Board-Certified Hematologist/Medical Oncologist to serve as the inaugural Medical Director, Hematology and Medical Oncology at our flagship hospital campus in Arlington, Virginia.</p><p>This unique opportunity will allow, with full Board of Director, executive team, and philanthropic support for a senior oncology leader to build and shape a comprehensive hematology and medical oncology program within one of the highest-performing independent health systems in the Washington, DC metropolitan region. The ideal candidate will bring significant clinical expertise, demonstrated leadership experience, and a passion for developing innovative, patient-centered oncology services in a growing community-based academic environment.</p><hr><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><p>* Provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient hematology and medical oncology care</p><p>* Evaluate and manage patients with solid tumors and benign/malignant hematologic disorders</p><p>* Develop individualized treatment plans utilizing chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and supportive oncology services</p><p>* Perform new patient consultations, follow-up visits, treatment monitoring, and survivorship planning</p><p>* Participate in shared call coverage and inpatient oncology consultations</p><p>* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate evidence-based cancer care</p><p>* Review pathology, imaging, molecular testing, and laboratory data to guide treatment decisions</p><p>* Manage treatment toxicities and symptom management needs</p><p>* Maintain timely and accurate documentation within the electronic medical record</p><p>Medical Director Leadership Responsibilities</p><p>* Program Development & Growth</p><p>* Lead the development and expansion of the hematology and medical oncology service line</p><p>* Build clinical workflows, operational infrastructure, and care delivery models</p><p>* Partner with executive leadership on strategic planning and market growth initiatives</p><p>* Assist in physician and APP recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts</p><p>* Develop relationships with referring physicians and regional healthcare partners</p><p>* Identify opportunities for program expansion, subspecialty growth, and community outreach</p><p>* Clinical Leadership</p><p>* Establish evidence-based clinical standards, pathways, and best practices</p><p>* Lead multidisciplinary tumor boards and cancer conferences</p><p>* Promote high-quality, coordinated, patient-centered oncology care</p><p>* Support integration across inpatient, outpatient, infusion, radiation oncology, and surgical oncology services</p><p>* Provide mentorship and clinical guidance to physicians, APPs, nursing, and staff</p><p>* Quality & Accreditation</p><p>* Oversee oncology quality initiatives, outcomes tracking, and performance improvement efforts</p><p>* Ensure ongoing compliance with Commission on Cancer (CoC) standards and accreditation requirements</p><p>* Monitor clinical quality metrics, peer review activities, patient experience scores, and operational benchmarks</p><p>* Champion patient safety, regulatory compliance, and evidence-based oncology practices</p><p>* Operational & Administrative Leadership</p><p>* Collaborate with hospital leadership on oncology operations, staffing, workflow optimization, and service integration</p><p>* Participate in budget planning, operational strategy, and resource development</p><p>* Support infusion center operations, scheduling optimization, and clinic efficiency initiatives</p><p>* Serve as the primary physician liaison between oncology providers and health system leadership</p><hr><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><p>* MD or DO from an accredited medical school</p><p>* Completion of an ACGME-accredited Hematology/Medical Oncology fellowship</p><p>* Board Certification in Medical Oncology required</p><p>* Eligibility for unrestricted Virginia medical licensure</p><p>* Minimum of 5 years of post-training clinical oncology experience strongly preferred</p><p>* Prior leadership experience as a Medical Director, Associate Medical Director, Program Director, or oncology service-line leader preferred</p><p>* Demonstrated experience in program development, clinical operations, or oncology growth initiatives strongly preferred</p><p>* Commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration, quality improvement, and patient-centered care</p><hr><p><strong>Compensation & Benefits</strong></p><p>* Competitive physician executive compensation package</p><p>* Leadership stipend plus productivity and quality incentives</p><p>* Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits</p><p>* Generous paid time off and CME allowance</p><p>* Retirement plan options</p><p>* Malpractice insurance with tail coverage</p><p>* Relocation assistance available</p><hr><p><strong>How to Apply</strong></p><p>Qualified candidates are invited to submit a CV and cover letter to:</p><p>Andrea Bell<br>Director of Physician Services Recruitment<br><a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="editor-link" href="mailto:anbell@vhchealth.org">anbell@vhchealth.org</a></p><p><em>At VHC Health, every role contributes to exceptional care, better outcomes, and stronger communities.</em></p><p><em>Compensation Range:</em> <em>$250,000.00 -
